Mhawash Farooq - Co-opted Governor

Mhawash is legal counsel for one of the BBC's flagship platforms "BBC Sounds" advising on intellectual property and business affairs across podcasts, radio and music.

Before her time in Sounds, Mhawash was legal counsel in the Children's and Education department at the BBC. Here, she also worked across advising on commercial contracts for popular children's TV shows such as "Something Special", "Hey Duggee", "Bing" and "Blue Peter" to name a few.

Mhawash has also practised as a litigant in industry leading private practice law firms before moving her career in-house to AIG, an internationally recognised insurer.

Her passion for nurturing new talent and dedication in helping others achieve their full potential is shown in the many mentoring schemes she is part of.

Mhawash believes a nurturing and caring environment in early years pays dividends in adulthood, and she hopes to contribute to Gatley Primary School as a governor, and to also give back to her local community by doing so.
