Gatley Teaching School offers a range of development programmes ranging from initial teacher training opportunities through to preparing suitably experienced individuals as aspiring head teachers. We have a track record of delivering high quality programmes that are endorsed by the National College of Teaching and Learning (NCTL), and underpinned by research and teaching and learning developments within education
School Direct / Initial Teacher Training (ITT) 2019 Applications are now open
Our School Direct programme generally lasts a year, and is run in collaboration with Elmridge Teaching School and Gorsey Bank Primary School. During the course of the programme, you will train in at least two good schools.
This course offers a brilliant option if you want to train and learn ‘on the job’ – but you shouldn’t worry about being thrown in at the deep end. You’ll be part of a team from the very start, receiving intensive support from experienced teachers and mentors. That means you won’t be teaching classes unsupported until the school thinks you’re ready.

- Check that you meet the university requirements for Manchester Metropolitan University our chosen HE provider
- Check that you meet the programme requirements for Gatley Teaching School
- Complete an application form on the UCAS website: https://www.ucas.com/ucas/teacher-training/ucas-teacher-training-apply-and-track
