Welcome to Gatley Primary School
On behalf of the children and staff, I would like to welcome you to Gatley Primary School. Our school is a thriving and growing community where we all work together to provide the best possible learning experience for our children. At the root of this is the culture we create, the curriculum we offer and the innovative environment that ensures our children develop to become successful, well-rounded learners.
Our school culture is founded on the principle that everybody is a learner and therefore we are all 'Enjoying Learning and Achieving Together'. Underpinned by this are our school values of: choice, independence, achievement, social responsibility and life skills. These are all promoted, taught and celebrated in every part of school life.
The curriculum is a significant contributory factor in building this culture. We have a curriculum which promotes curiosity and collaboration. A curriculum which is designed to develop comprehension, connectivity, compassion and creativity as part of its desired impact for children.
It is built around key knowledge components derived from the National Curriculum and is carefully constructed with the children, the staff and curriculum leaders. It is underpinned by a range of documentation and research which enriches the curriculum content beyond the National Curriculum. Our curriculum aims to build progressive knowledge and skills from Nursery to Year 6 so that children leave our school prepared for their next steps. More information about this can be found here: https://gatleyprimary.com/our-curriculum/our-curriculum
Our innovative learning environment complements the curriculum to develop effective learning behaviours and create conditions for personal development for every child where their individual achievements and milestones are celebrated.
All of this results in a school with children who thrive in all aspects of school life, both academically and personally. This has been recognised in a number of ways: in our KS2 results, where the Minister of State for School Standards acknowledged these were in the top 3% of schools nationally; The Times Parent Power survey which named us as the 99th top performing school nationally; our awards with SSAT where we gained 'transformational' practice in both wellbeing and behaviour and attitudes; and as a 'Rights Respecting' Bronze school.
