Our life skills curriculum offers our children the emotional, social and intellectual tools needed to achieve success in life- on a personal level, an interpersonal level, and within our community. In line with the rest of our curriculum our life skills curriculum is structured around ‘big ideas’, which are:

Adventure Skills
Additionally, we have identified concepts to be taught and revisited within these 'big ideas', supporting pupils to develop deep schemas of knowledge over their time at Gatley Primary School.
For example, within the 'big idea' of SELF-SUFFICIENCY, the following concepts have been identified: Communication, planning, collaboration, resilience, leadership and commitment.
Life Skills Passport
The life skills curriculum progression documents support the development of children’s skills and knowledge throughout their learning journey at Gatley Primary School. To help them to document their progress through the life skills curriculum, each child is provided with a ‘Life Skills Passport’. Within this passport they can work towards achieving stamps as they journey through the curriculum, allowing them to see their progress and the skills and knowledge that they are acquiring.
